1. Strengthen the partnership of families and parish to renew in families their Catholic identity and reclaim the parent's role as primary educators.

  • Seek out unchurched Catholic families
  • Stress role of parents in handing on faith in all sacramental meetings for parents from Baptism through Confirmation
  • Gather, identify, publish resources/suggestions to help parish families celebrate, recognize, implement, and internalize their Catholic identity
  • Gather, identify, publish resources to help families recognize themselves as Domestic Church.
  • Promote the Diocesan Office of Family Life, its training programs and retreats.

2. Identify and empower current and future parish leaders through education, formation, and support.

  • Leaders learn to communicate with multiethnic groups to build unity.
  • Work in collaboration with the CCE office to reinstate the DRE Institute or some formal certified training process. (The BFCL " Basic Formation of Catechetical Leaders" Institute has been forming new catechetical leaders for several years. 3.Advocate for affordable education and for just wages in parish leadership.

  • Diocesan wide scholarships
  • Promote web site degree programs
  • Create a support team for catechetical/pastoral leadership facing a "grievance" meeting
  • Draw up a Friend of Court (process) Statement regarding wages, termination, etc. and submit to the diocese
  • Work with the diocesan offices to develop an updated salary scale for all catechetical ministers.

4. Promote ongoing communication with ordained leadership.

  • Strengthen lay and ordained joint on-going formation on a parish level.
  • Present ACPM statement to the Bishop.
  • Include ordained as ad hoc committee members.
  • Endeavor to serve on diocesan committees that impact our ministries.
  • Advocate for deanery wide collaborative efforts including total pastoral staff (lay and ordained.)
  • Staff development in deaneries 2x a year, including lay and ordained.
  • Communicate goals and objectives to ACPM to the Bishop, Deans, and Pastors of our dioceses.
  • Publish the goals and objectives in the Catholic Herald and the Houston Chronicle.

5. Foster the professionalism of parish leadership.

  • Mentoring
  • Workshops for developing skills.
  • Develop ACPM handbook with very practical ideas for effective leadership.

6. Develop a network of support for parishes with limited resources.

  • Offer web site ACPM Attic to share parish resources.
  • Coordinaitng Committee members will volunteer to assist parishes with Catechist Formation modules, speakers, etc
  • Consider using our resources to provide scholarships for national conference registration.

7. Strengthen the partnership of families and parish to renew in families their Catholic identity and reclaim parent's role as primary educators.

  • Connect parish communites with the Family Life Office by encouraging parish participation in archdiocesan activities.

8. Foster Professionalism of Parish Leadership.

    1. Ensure that every member of the Coordinating Committee understands and can articulate the purpose and benefits of belonging to acpm.

    2. Make personal contact with every person in parish leadership in our diocese and invite them to join our local organization.

    3. Establish a "break" in association dues for parishes who have more than one registered member.

    4. Promote the diversity of our membership in parish leadership. Provide parish position/responsibility in membership listing.

    5. Always promote continuing formation/education of adults in parish leadership. Provide ongoing information about upcoming conferences.

    6. Promote membership in national organizations that reflect our membership. NCPD, NCCL, NOCH, NFCYM, NALM, North America Forum.

    7. Promote learning of what the letters mean for our professional organizations.

9. Helping Resource DRE/CRE's in Parishes with needs:

    1. acpm Membership Gift: Membership to the professional organization of acpm might be changed to allow full paying members as well as "discounted" membership to part time and stipend professionals as well as "gratis" membership for professionals working as volunteers in many of the resource poor parishes.
